Mary Mary Review At Soul-Audio.com
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 (19 reads)

Mary Mary’s The Sound delivers the best of the old and the new. Although it’s not a ‘concept’ album, The Sound uses the context of a radio broadcast as a framing device: a continuing motif that introduces the album and weaves its way through the whole project, often acting as a segue between songs. Erica and Tina, with help from longtime producer and collaborator Warryn Campbell (Erica’s husband), convincingly bring to mind the good-time feeling of the Motown era without getting into parody or nostalgia. More seasoned listeners will recognize elements of Martha and the Vandellas (“The Sound”) and The Jackson 5 (“Boom”), although the overall vibe is upgraded by incorporating elements of hip-hop, a good dose of synth work, electronics, contemporary pop/jazz elements, and strong, sophisticated ballads.

The title track, a solid praise tune co-written with Paul Baloche, is already getting heavy Christian radio play, and worship teams will easily adapt the meditativePower of Your Name."

Today Is The Day Gets 4 Star Review From Christianity Today
Tuesday, September 23, 2008 (26 reads)

You'd think Lincoln Brewster would be better known than he currently is. As a singer, songwriter, worship leader, and guitarist extraordinaire, he's got the skills—part Chris Tomlin, part Phil Keaggy (at least the rock side of Keaggy)—as well as the connections, playing with such big names as Steve Perry (Journey) and Michael W. Smith, writing with the likes of Paul Baloche and Hillsong. The guy's also certainly had his share of radio hits, most recently his No. 1 cover of Brenton Brown's "Everlasting God." Yet he's still not quite a household name in Christian music, or as widely recognized a worship leader as his contemporaries.
