“Open up the sky” is a song that was written in pursuit of God. I remember thinking to myself how much I appreciated the blessings of God, but I would give them all up to just have more of Him.

It seemed as if I were following God down a winding path and every time that I would turn a corner and expect to find Him, there would just be a trail, which were His blessings.

I love the blessings of the Lord, but I would give anything to come around the corner and find Him! That statement of passion for His presence leads us to say, “Here we go, let’s go to the throne, where we belong, right into His arms!”

When I wrote “Worshipping You,” I wanted to create a worship song that was a “no-brainer!” I wanted to craft a song that would say it all and give you no choice but to worship!  I had been working on this particular song for a couple of weeks, but the chorus never seemed to be right. That was because my chorus was supposed to be the pre-chorus. For weeks, I had sung, “I live to worship you” as the chorus but it didn’t feel like it went anywhere.

Then, one night as we were rehearsing, we started to do this song. When we came to the end of the Chorus, we exploded into the present Chorus and then it all made perfect sense. It continues to evolve in our services and currently has three different bridges. Don’t you love it when that happens?

“Whisper His Name” originated years ago as a personal worship song that the Lord had given me. So, I didn’t see its potential… It progressed during prayer meetings and smaller intimate settings and eventually became what it is now. Initially, all I had was “Whisper His Name” and the verse until we were at a conference and the people began to say “Jesus” in response.

When they did that, I sang “Call out His name” and they said it louder… “JESUS.”   I then sang “Shout out His name” and the building erupted!  On the CD, you’ll hear “Glory to you in the highest place,” which was completely spontaneous the night that we recorded.
God is Awesome!
